If the below leaves you still confused? reach us at support@charg-r.co, or better still, go to our Tiktok to see Charg-R prototype in action (and Floofer the Dog)
Charg-R is the worlds first Environmentally friendly single use electronic device charger.
Aimed primarily at boosting phone charge when on the go, travelling, camping, out at night, Charg-r is a cost effective way of getting enough charge into your phone to see out the day.
Charg-r can also be used to charge tablets, headphones etc.
Powerbanks are great! However, they have their drawbacks;
> You must remember to charge them
> You must remember to bring them with you when leaving the home
> You must carry them with you (and they are often heavy)
> You must remember to bring your lead with you
> A much more expensive investment (Powerbanks are usually around $20 upwards)
> Prone to wear and tear over time equating to poorer performance, also if the outer casing gets damaged you may need to purchase a new one
> If you lose it, you lose your entire investment (as mentioned above this is likely $20 plus)
Charg-R
> Comes pre-charged
> No lead needed (has built in USB Male outlet)
> Inexpensive ($3-4)
> You generally will purchase as you need it, so you won't have it long enough for wear and tear to affect it
> Available Nationwide so you won't need to carry it around all day, pop into the shop when you need one and purchase there and then
> Less likely to lose as you use it when you buy it, but even if you did, you are only down $3-4 as opposed to $20 plus with a typical powerbank
In terms of principle, Charg-R can be compared with bottled water. We are never far from a faucet/tap, and we can purchase refillable bottles to fill and take with us. These refillable bottles are like a Powerbank (fill/charge and take with you), while Charg-R is like the bottled water you would buy in a shop (buy in convenience on the go).
Yes, as well as being safe to dispose of via general waste/trash bin, Charg-R devices are 100% Recyclable and can be recycled at any standard battery recycling facility, such as the like that you would get in your local supermarket. We always recommend Recycling the Charg-R devices
Charg-R does not contain any Lithium or Cobalt and is considered Non-Toxic, and therefore can be disposed of via general waste/trash bins.
The first question to ask is - "Does the world need Charg-R?" and the answer is yes!
There are scenarios where people are in difficulty/unsafe and there phone battery is empty. Charg-R could literally be the difference in life or death. The objective therefore must be to make the devices, but make them as ethical and as clean as possible, from sourcing of materials to end of life recycling and everything in between. That is what are going to achieve.
> We have reached out to the Carbon Trust and are hoping to be Carbon Net Zero by the end of 2024, and Carbon Positive by the end of 2025 (meaning we will be removing more Co2 from the environment than we produce)
> Energy used in our factory here in the UK, will be green renewable energy.
> We will be incentivising recycling. When you return 10 spent units, you will receive credit, which can be redeemed for further online purchases from our store.
> Charg-R contains no unethically sourced components, including no lithium and no cobalt
> Charg-R is very small, so any that do end up in landfill, take up only a tiny footprint (over 4 million units would fit in a standard 20ft shipping container)
> Charg-R is safe for use in energy harvesting incineration
> Charg-R as a company will endeavour to get involved in as many green initiatives as possible
For us the only negative is that a small quantity will end up in landfill, but that if most people are responsible in recycling, then this will provide a much needed safe and convenient product that could help save many lives.
Unfortunately not, it is designed with convenience in mind and to give you a boost in power when you need it most. Compromises had to be made with the current technology available to ensure the product is compact enough to carry around, affordable to purchase all the while still giving out a reasonable amount of power. A good example to give an idea on the products capabilities would be to use a typical phone charge. Charg-R devices will power most phones from empty to between 25-35% depending on the phone model.
Again, using the example of a typical phone. Charg-R will keep up with the phones power demands for the first 20% of charge approximately, at which point power delivery will slow. the remaining say 10% power is delivered over approximately the following 30-60 mins
Unfortunately, the technology used does not allow for recharging.
We anticipated originally the device would cost $2, however that was before the current period of inflation and additional safety mechanisms required to ensure the product is fit for purpose. We anticipate the device would be retailing for $3-4 in shops (TBC)
